When Should You Buy New?
We believe in recommending the right product — not just the most expensive one. For most liquid storage applications, a used or reconditioned IBC is the smarter choice. But there are legitimate reasons to invest in new.
Not sure?Tell us your application and we’ll honestly recommend whether new, reconditioned, or used is the best fit for your needs and budget.
Ask Our TeamFDA or Regulatory Requirement
Some food, pharmaceutical, and cosmetic applications require containers made from virgin materials with full chain-of-custody documentation. New IBC containers meet these requirements out of the box.
Hazardous Material Transport
UN-rated new containers carry current DOT certifications for transporting hazardous materials. Reconditioned containers may not carry the same UN rating depending on reconditioning scope.
High-Purity Applications
If you're storing ultra-pure water, pharmaceutical intermediates, or sensitive chemicals, a new container eliminates any risk of cross-contamination from prior contents.
Long-Term Repeated Use
If you plan to use the same container for 10+ years with frequent CIP cleaning, a new stainless steel IBC provides the longest service life and best total cost of ownership.
Brand or Customer Requirements
Some end customers or brand partners require new packaging as a condition of doing business. New IBCs satisfy those contractual obligations.
Custom Configuration Options
Need something beyond the standard spec? We can configure new IBC containers to match your exact requirements.
Valve Configurations
Butterfly, ball, camlock, or tri-clamp discharge valves in 2" or 3" sizes. Stainless steel or polypropylene materials.
Custom Lid Openings
6", 8", or full-open top designs. Vented caps, pressure-relief lids, and tamper-evident closures available.
Pallet Options
Wood, steel, or HDPE composite pallets. Four-way forklift entry, integrated drain channels, and custom dimensions.
Liner Systems
Disposable inner liners for multi-product use without cleaning between batches. Aseptic and barrier liner options.
Heating & Insulation
Integrated heating blankets, insulation wraps, and thermostat-controlled systems for viscous products or cold-climate storage.
Labeling & Branding
Custom printed labels, color-coded caps, branded cage panels, and barcoded serial number tracking.

New vs. Reconditioned: The Full Picture
We sell both new and reconditioned IBCs, so we have no bias. Here’s an honest comparison to help you make the right choice.
| Criteria | New IBC | Reconditioned IBC |
|---|---|---|
| Unit Cost (275 gal HDPE) | $300 – $450 | $150 – $250 |
| Unit Cost (SS 304) | $1,200 – $2,500 | N/A (we don't recondition SS) |
| FDA Food-Contact | Yes — all units | Grade 1 only, with documentation |
| UN/DOT Rating | Yes — current certification | No — original rating voided |
| Virgin Material Guarantee | Yes | No — previously used HDPE |
| Leak-Free Warranty | 2–5 year manufacturer | 90-day Baltimore IBC |
| Lead Time | 5–28 days | Same-day to 3 days |
| Customization | Full custom options | Valve and cap choice only |
| Environmental Impact | Higher — new materials | Lower — 80% less energy |
| Expected Lifespan | 5–7 years (HDPE), 20+ (SS) | 3–5 additional years |
Our honest recommendation: if you don’t need FDA certification, UN rating, or virgin material guarantee, a reconditioned IBC is almost always the smarter financial and environmental choice. We’ll never upsell you on new if reconditioned will do the job.
